I first started thinking about private libraries in the US when I learned about the Athaneum, a private, members only library in the heart of Boston. The building sits right near Faneuil Hall and includes study spaces, long wooden tables, and rows of rows of books. There are old, worn leather chairs that are easy to curl up in.
